Last month, I introduced a new monthly series that will run until next September, 2012, the month that my company, Bridgette Raes Style Group will celebrate its 10th year in business. This feature is called “In Their Own Words” which will feature an update from a past client and some reflection on their experience of working with me and my company. Our kick-off post was with past client Amanda Goldfarb. Click here if you missed it! This month, I am featuring past client Denise Grant. Denise is special to me in many ways. First, she was just a delight to work with, so eager to dig in and make the changes in her wardrobe that she really wanted to see happen. Additionally, through our work together, Denise has become a valued friend. In fact, not only has her own mother become a client of mine (who still remains one of my absolute favorite clients of all time), but, if Denise looks at all familiar, she was one of my models in my book Style Rx: Dressing the Body You Have to Create the Body You Want.

“I certainly feel much more confident in how I present myself to the world. I look good, I feel good and that is reflected back to me.”
What was the greatest challenge you were struggling with in your wardrobe at the time you called to book an appointment?
I knew what I wanted and had an image in my mind of how I wanted to dress and present myself but had no idea how to bring that vision to life.
What was going on in your personal life at the time you made your appointment? What goals were you working towards or life situations you were dealing with?
At the time I decided to work with Bridgette I had been divorced a few years prior and was ready to change my life in many ways and this was one of my first steps.
What did you learn from the consultations that were most memorable and that you still find yourself using today?
The most vauable thing I’ve learned is that just about everything in my closet should be able to go with something else in my closet. I call it Garanimals for adults.
How would you describe the experience of working with Bridgette Raes Style Group?
It was a wonderful experience that helped spawn so much confidence in myself and I’ve been able to share what I’ve learned with my family and friends.
What was the most surprising thing you found about working with BRSG?
The most surprising thing was how absolutely amazing Bridgette was (and still is), I’ve gained a wonderful friend who has helped inspire me in ways she probably doesn’t know.
How has your life progressed since working with BRSG?
Since working with BRSG so many things have changed in my life. I’ve embarked upon the journey of getting to know myself better and living my life by decision. From my job, my hair, my weight to how I advocate for myself.
I certainly feel much more confident in how I present myself to the world. I look good, I feel good and that is reflected back to me.
Do you think there is a stigma around reaching out for style and wardrobe help? If so, why do you think that is?
Yes, there definetly is a stigma around reaching out for help. I remember that the person I was dating at the time just couldn’t understand why I would ask for help in this area of my life. I think this is due to the other person projecting the limits they put on themselves to others.
What would you say to someone who is thinking of calling BRSG for style help but may have hesitations?
Just do it! You will not be disappointed, you will learn how to do this for yourself and will be able to pass along the knowledge to others.
How would you sum up working with BRSG?
The best decision ever!
