If you’re like me, you like a hood when the time is right but don’t like to wear a coat with a hood when one isn’t necessary. While there are those types of coats out there that have a hood that zips into the collar of a jacket or coat, rare is it that I buy a coat like this or actually unzip the collar and roll out the hood. Clearly, I’m a high maintenance hood wearer, or like the bad boyfriend of hood wearers- I only want one when it is convenient for me. This is why I am featuring Hood to Go as today’s Fab Find. It’s like the booty call of hoods.
Okay, in all seriousness, Hood To Go is a small, compact hood that’s easy to wear under any jacket. It looks great, protects hair and is just as easy to stow away when the sun comes out. Creator of the Hood to Go and a native of Portland Oregon, Susan Hammel, explains that her hair and the rain and her hair have never been the greatest of friends. And, Murphy’s Law, doesn’t it always rain on the bestest of hair days? Hammel realized that all she needed was a simple hood to keep her hair dry and looking good. Because the majority of coats in her closet don’t have hoods, she was always on the lookout for something that would protect her hair when not prepared for wet weather. She thought, “wouldn’t it be great if I could just add a hood to any jacket or coat?”
Her solution? HOOD TO GO. A stylish, water resistant hood that can be worn under any coat. The hood is attached to a small, lightweight vest that is virtually invisible under your coat. Flip up the hood when you need it, flip it down when the sun comes out. With HOOD TO GO, you can wear any coat you want and not risk a bad hair day if it starts to sprinkle.

This is my solution to coat and jacket wearing. I do love hats, but they are cumbersome if you take them off….. This can easily slip into a bag!! need one!
Hi Catherine! You are the winner of the hood to go. Please email me at info at bridgetteraes dot com with your mailing address!
I made it a policy to never buy another jacket without a hood…but the cuter styles often don’t have one. Great solution!
I have curly hair, and hats crush my adorable curls. I’ve been wearing a scarf on my head, but that’s so 60s and not chique. This item has a sophistocated look that would solve my problem, match my personality, and add at least ten points to my style quotient!
OMG! It’s raining in Southern California today and I was just at IKEA with my 3 year old twins. Pushing them in the stroller does not allow me to use an umbrella and walking the distance from my car to the store this morning, I got pretty much drenched, even with a cardigan draped over my head (very stylish…. by the way)!! This would’ve totally solved this problem!! I love this idea. Totally genius!
well, I don’t have a Facebook account, so I don’t know if this disqualifies me, but I love this hands free option. It seems I wouldn’t lose it, (like I do umbrellas) cause i”d be wearing it, or it fits in a pocket! plus I don’t like hats. this is an innovative solution. can’t wait until they come out with more options and colors. optional fur lining anyone?
I’m so excited about this new product! I live in Portland and have many cute coats that don’t have hoods. I have long wavy hair. It usually looks good before I leave the house. However, if rain hits my hair, I look like a drowned muskrat. Now don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against muskrats and the Captain and Tennille song Muskrat Love is catchy. I just don’t look good with wet, cold frizzy hair. I’ve been searching for a solution. Hood to Go would solve my style problems! I would have a stylish hood to wear with all my coats. I would be prepared for any weather. Hood to Go would keep me covered and looking good. You never know, Hood to Go may even help this single mom find Mr. Right. Thanks for inventing this product. I’ve been searching for a solution for my hoodless coats for years.
