Do you wear a lot of black or rely heavily on the color in your wardrobe? There is nothing wrong with this, especially if it works with your style and/or coloring. However, for many, a dependence on black is not by choice but rather by default. I call these people Blackcidents.
On my YouTube channel I shared this video with my tips to help you balance out your black-heavy wardrobe and embrace other colors.
In addition to this video, I talk a lot about being a Blackcident on this blog. You can check out more advice here. If you rely too heavily on black pants this post may help and if you are looking for fresh ways to wear black to work here are some tips you can read. Lastly, find out how you can add more interest to your outfits by ditching the black shoes, here.

Nice glasses, are they new?
I’m definitely going to try to buy some different colored shoes. I’m stuck in the black pants rut too. I do have some tan pants and tend to wear mostly the black in winter and tan and some white in summer.
Hi Marilyn, the glasses are newish, but I need to wear them ore because I suffer from dry eyes and can’t wear my contacts as much. It’s so easy to get stuck in the black rut. You are not alone!
You are AWESOME. Thank you a million times for sharing so much great information on your blog. I discovered your blog a few weeks ago and I’ve read through many of your back posts, although I will read them again because there’s so much information here that will take a while to ‘sink in’.
I’m a ‘deep winter’ that loves black but I’m getting bored with it and I need some brightness for spring and summer, so this post is so timely!!
You are absolutely right about cognac being the most versatile neutral (i also love my fuschia bag!). I haven’t reached for a black bag for over six months now, the cognac and fuschia act as my third color. And my nude pumps and wedges get a LOT more love from me than I ever thought possible. I still love my black pumps and booties, but my spring shopping list has colored shoes on there.
You are so kind to say this and I am so thrilled you are having so much success! The whole goal is to feel fabulous and in charge of your own style! Keep rocking it, girlfriend, and keep me posted on all your successes! It’s just music to my ears. Thanks so much for the update and encouragement!!
