There are few things I love more than a big chunky necklace. Nothing can completely transform a look as quickly and easily as statement jewelry. Bridgette herself even wrote a piece on how to wear statement jewelry on the Wantable.com Blog.
But how many times are you looking for a specific type of necklace but you just can’t find it? I’ve lost track of the number of times I wanted to say “Okay I want these jewels on that silver chain but in blue instead of green”. Or worse I find the PERFECT necklace but its 5 times what I wanted to spend.
Alas, the jewelry counter at Macy’s isn’t a fast food restaurant. You cannot have it your way.
Or can you?
A few months I was contacted about a book I might want to feature as a Fab Find- DIY Statement Necklaces: Create Your Own Customizable Jewelry by Erin Pruckno
I was intrigued but skeptical. I love the idea of creating and customizing my own jewelry. I also know I’m not terribly crafty. But once I received the book I saw it had step by step instructions with photographs. Even someone as clumsy as me could create her own jewelry without gluing my fingers together, and at a fraction of the cost!
One very lucky reader will get a free copy of DIY Statement Necklaces: Create Your Own Customizable Jewelry by Erin Pruckno

I make a lot of my own jewelry but most are si ple designs ans some never make the runway! I’d like to make these as gifts next Cheistmas.
One thing that drives me crazy about retail jewelry is that it is so hard to get the length right. Too long, too short, just doesn’t work with neckline of my blouse, etc, etc. DIY Statement Necklaces could just be the solution I need. I looked inside the book and I really like the fact that the author provides a detailed list, with photos, of all the tools and equipment you need. And everything is readily available at just about any fabric or craft store. I’m sold!
they even put a list at the begining of each chapter saying “for this necklace you will need” and they list the tools and materials. Its so helpful!
I have a ton of chunky, old jewelry with one component I like. It would be great to have instructions that would help me turn them into something modern and beautiful!

Wow! This looks like a fun book to share with my daughter-in-law… maybe for some bonding time? I am on a one year purchasing fast, but remaking some of my unworn pieces seems like a great way to perk up my accessories wardrobe!
I agree with Nicole and Liz, I have pieces I’ve been saving so that they can be reworked. This book would be a great place to start since I know what I wish to do but have no idea how to do it!
