A friend of mine posted a message on my Facebook that she is totally tired of her summer clothes. I laughed when I read it because this is so incredibly common towards the end of the season. While you could take one approach and stock up on some clothes that you can wear for the remaining summer weeks and then store away for next year, another approach could be to buy some clothes that you can wear now and into the cooler months. In today’s post I am sharing some dresses you can wear now and in the fall with just a few tweaks.

Dress #1
This casual shirtdress from Rebecca Taylor can easily be worn with a pair of metallic sandals or a cute pair of bright wedges but also works for fall with the addition of a pair of opaque tights and these cute colorblock brogues from Shoes of Prey. The outfit is finished with a grey handbag from Steve Madden and black and silver earrings from Robert Lee Morris.

This floral dress from Lucky Brand works for warmer months with a pair of cognac sandals, ballerina flats or even a pair of tan wedges. To turn it into a fall look, I swapped out summer shoes with a pair of cognac boots from Sam Edelman, added a denim jacket from J. Crew, which is the perfect transitional jacket, and a grey scarf from Wolford. The outfit is finished with a cognac bag from Rebecca Minkoff and long gold necklace from Bauble Bar.
Dress #3
A sleeveless dress, like this one from Topshop is perfect for transitional weather. You can wear it without a topper piece or with a cardigan in the summer along with sandals or pumps. As the weather cools, you can keep the cardigan or even grab something heavier, like this flannel blazer from J. Crew. Black boots, like these from MICHAEL Michael Kors, can easily be added to this outfit and a scarf, like this one from Lauren by Ralph Lauren, can complete this fall look. For accessories, I used this black bag from Lord & Taylor and earrings from Alexis Bittar.

This summery dress from Madwell gets a fall look with just a few tweaks. First, I layered the same J. Crew denim jacket over the dress and added this long scarf from Lord & Taylor, added these laced booties from T Tahari and finished the look with a pair of brown drop earrings from Stella & Dot and an autumnal burgundy bag from Michael Kors.

This exploded houndstooth dress and cardigan from BOSS Hugo Boss can easily work in the summer with a pair of bright green shoes, black peep toe pumps, and more. The simple addition of opaque tights and shooties from Vince Camuto takes the dress into the fall and outfit is further accessorized with a grey bag from Cole Haan and green stud earrings from Trina Turk.
