Khaki pants are quite versatile in the spring and summer. Depending on how it is styled, they can be worn to work as well as on the weekends. Over the years, given its more utilitarian weave and appearance, khakis have become synonymous with business casual businessmen and the waitstaff at most family restaurants which, let’s face it, are far from stylish ways to wear them. So in today’s post, I thought I’d offer some tips on how to wear khaki pants stylishly.
How to Stylishly Wear Khaki Pants
Khaki pants styled with a blue blazer is about as classic as it gets, albeit it a little too classic. If done wrong, people are going to wonder where your yacht or Mrs. Howell is. Using this navy blazer from J. Crew and slim cropped khakis from Theory, I took the look a step further adding this striped t-shirt from Boden that was accessorized with this printed scarf from Theordora & Callum. The fun combination of stripes and print gives the outfit an unexpected edge. Finishing the look, I added these purple suede loafers from Cole Haan, tan bag from MICHAEL Michael Kors and amethyst and gold earrings from Evelyn Knight.
These khaki pants from Banana Republic are much more casual than the last pair and not for work unless your workplace is really casual. For downtime, however, this pair is great. I styled them with a graphic t-shirt from Modcloth, a denim jacket from Madwell, teal Converse sneakers, a coral crossbody bag from Nordstrom, filigree drop earrings and a chronograph watch with a colorful teal detail.
Styled right, khaki pants can create a great smart casual look. Using this clean, skinny ankle length pair from Elie Tahari, I added this kimono style, lightweight sweater from French Connection and finished the look with a scarf from Nordstrom. Using the colors found in the scarf, I added these strappy heeled orange sandals from Franco Sarto and a burgundy saddle bag from Banana Republic. For jewelry, I finished the outfit with and Ann Taylor bangle set and gold chandelier earrings from Julie Vos.
This more casual look is made more chic looking by keeping it tonal, pairing these khaki pants from J. Crew and camel boyfriend cardigan from The Gap. Keeping it simple, I layered this Theory tank under the cardigan, added tan flats from Steve Madden and a beige bag. The outfit was popped with an emerald green necklace from Bauble Bar.
This last look I styled using these flat front khaki pants in more of a stone color. For this casual outfit, I added this navy and stone sweater from Lucky Brand that I accessorized with this printed scarf from Nordstrom that picks up a similar color pattern. The look is finished with a pair of cognac wedge sandals from Style & Co., navy and gold bracelet from Karen Kane, metallic fringe earrings from LOFT and gold tote.
You can stylishly wear khaki pants if you style them right. Avoid those pedestrian uninspired looks and add touches that take this classic style to the next level.
