“Whether it’s a canvas tote or Givenchy, a day bag you love is essential. It doesn’t have to be a fashion It bag of the season, either.” – Brad Goreski
I grew up in a tiny painfully boring town called Oak Harbor and I will never stop being grateful that I get to live in New York City. But living in New York means you don’t drive. As a result, I have to rely upon having everything, and I do mean everything in my purse that might need throughout the day. This create its own problem. Huge purses with a dozen inner pockets can keep things organized, but they also can swallow small items. I’m sure I can’t be the only woman who has done this, but I’ve lost track of the number of times, in a fit of frustration and rage, I just emptied my entire purse out on a counter or even a floor when I just couldn’t find something! I carry around tiny flashlights but I often found myself groping for those and being unable to find them as well.
UGH! Sometime I wonder why they don’t make Google Maps for handbags.
SOI Handbag Illuminator
Then I was told about the SOI (pronounced soy) Handbag Illuminator. A simple orb that fits right in your purse or tote, this sleek design lights up at the touch or approach of a hand, letting frantic rummaging lead to revolutionary illumination.
The light shuts itself off automatically after 8-11 seconds once you remove your hand from your purse, so no worries about running the battery down anytime soon. Need more time? Just tap it again.

Genius! I usually carry small handbags but just recently graduated to a large tote, which I love! But it’s hard sometimes to find everything, especially at night or in a dark restaurant. I could definitely use one of these!
Even if you do use your car as your tote bag, your “real” bag is still where you keep your most important stuff. How much safer it would be if you can find what you need quickly, and don’t have to rummage while in your car, where you’re farely vulnerable.
I’d be thrilled to have one of these because, perversely, almost all my handbags have dark linings so it’s tricky to locate things anytime I’m not in blazing sunlight (= most of the time). Having one of these would ensure i no longer embarrass myself in public by groping my bag’s innards in an unseemly fashion.
P.S. I also love that you don’t need light to FIND the Illuminator in the first place <3

Hi! Just wanted to let you know – the SOI handbag illuminator arrived in yesterday’s post and it is a marvel! Works like a dream… and makes a really big difference to the dark interior of my handbag. Was also delighted to discover it came with 2 AAA batteries already installed so it works right out of the box (BTW I’m relieved it takes standard batteries because they’ll be easy to replace once they do expire).
In short: thank you so much!!
P.S. I showed it to a coworker who was so taken with it, he decided on the spot to order one as a gift for his wife 🙂
I am so thrilled to hear this! Because Cameron writes the Fab Finds she gets to try out all the products we feature, so I am thrilled to hear the product does what it says it will! Thanks so much for the update! Enjoy your illuminated bag!
A light at the end of the Chanel!!
As a newspaper reporter in California, I always carry a pad in my purse and 10-12 pens (it’s amazing how fast they run out of ink). I try to tuck them in an easily accessible spot, but I change bags to fit my outfit, and some purses don’t have a long enough pocket. There’s nothing more embarrassing than digging around in my bag for the tools of the trade while male reporters just whip a pen out of who knows where. This product seems like genius! Would love to have one.

Don’t know if this giveaway is still open but what a genius idea. Loved the video! While I manage to consistently root around in the typically small bags I carry, I would love this as a gift for a friend who carries a tote. We were just talking about how awful dark linings are and how every bag should come with its own inside light. With this product, now every bag can!

Wow, this seems really cool. I bought a little light for my purse, but I have to find it and press the button on it to turn it on and then I have to turn it off. This little device seems like it would work a lot better.
