Maybe it is because I spent time in rainy Portland Oregon last month or maybe it’s because the saying April showers bring May flowers is in my mind and I realize I don’t own a good slicker, but I have casual raincoats on the brain.  I’m not talking about a stylish work trench, I’m talking about a style that you can wear on the weekends or with a pair of jeans.

Oddly, may raincoats out there aren’t weatherproof.  I’m not exactly sure why.  Isn’t that the point, to keep yourself from getting soaked?  Who cares if a raincoat is stylish if it doesn’t function as such?

Anyway, I put together some looks using casual raincoats and also added a few styles at the end of the post.

Casual Raincoats That Will Keep You Dry and Stylish

Outfit #1

casual raincoats

This first casual raincoat is actually a rain cape from Mackage.  Don’t worry, it has sleeves.  It’s packable and can be transformed into a backpack and has a hidden hood.  I styled this rain cape with a linen blend sweater from Theory with a pair of cuffed jeans from Madewell.  While the shoes may not look rain-friendly, they are.  All of Aquatalia’s shoes are weatherproof, even their sandals.  You can wear these chic heeled mules in the rain without worry about damaging them.  For accessories, I added this bag from Vince Camuto, a terra cotta scarf from Chan Luu and brushed teardrop earrings from Halogen.

This next raincoat is from Moncler.  It has a detachable hood and drawstrings that can adjust the fit.  The raincoat is water repellant.  I styled it with a pair of navy ponte pants from J. Crew, a grey sweatshirt from Sweaty Betty, hot pink Hunter rain boots, a nylon crossbody bag from Longchamp and layered necklace from Panacea.

Outfit #3

This last casual raincoat is from The North Face.  It’s a breathable, waterproof Gor-tex and has a warm-to-touch backer fabric eliminates the need for a liner and features a removable drawcord hood.  I styled this casual raincoat with a pair of black jeans from Treasure & Bond, chelsea rain boots from Sam Edelman (which I own in green and they are fabulous), polka dot silk utility shirt from Vince, black and white backpack from Steve Madden, red scarf from Echo Design and black earrings from Kate Spade.
