Five Ways to Wear a White Cotton T-Shirt

There is nothing simpler than a basic white cotton t-shirt. It falls into the category of items that includes the little black dress, a simple navy blazer and a pair of jeans. The simplicity of these items allow us to do limitless things with them. Yet, this doesn’t mean that we do all that we can with these basics. Sometimes we need a shot of inspiration to change things up and use them differently.

Outfit #1

A white cotton t-shirt in itself is relatively boring. However, given its lack of novelty, it is the perfect piece to build off of. In this outfit, I styled the tee with a pair of navy wide leg cropped pants from L.K. Bennett and a denim jacket from J. Crew. I finished the outfit with bright orange strappy sandals from Splendid, printed scarf from Vince Camuto and soft blue bag from MICHAEL Michael Kors.

Outfit #2

A white cotton t-shirt can be dressed up or dressed down. It’s the perfect weekend piece. I styled this look for a casual day using this skirt from H&M and a pair of metallic slip on sneakers from Vionic. I finished the outfit with a graphic tote from Dogeared Design and printed bracelet from Tory Burch.

Outfit #3

This next look is incredibly basic yet timeless. I styled the white cotton t-shirt with a navy blazer from Reiss and a pair of jeans from Madewell. The outfit is finished with a pair of block heel mules from Sole Society, tassel pendant from Stella & Dot and crossbody bag from Gucci.

Outfit #4

For a super casual day, I styled this white cotton t-shirt with these joggers from Thread & Supply. To make the outfit less pajama-like, I added some components to give it a finish. Over the tee I layered this navy open cotton blend cardigan from Caslon. The look is finished with slides in dusty clay, a yellow bucket bag from Lodis and hoop earrings from French Connection.

In this outfit I gave the basic white cotton t-shirt and denim shorts from Wit & Wisdom a little spice by layering with this summery black vest from BB Dakota. The outfit is finished with a pair of flat black sandals from Louise et Cie, black bag from AllSaints and silver necklace from TopShop.
