Denim jackets are typically things we wear casually. However, with workplaces becoming increasingly more casual, they can be considered for work in certain cases. Obviously, in a super corporate or conservative office wearing a denim jacket is off the table. Yet, worn the right way, denim jackets can be worn in more business casual work environments.
To give you an idea, in this week’s One Item, Five Fashionable Ways, I am giving you some tips on how to wear a denim jacket to work using this style from J. Crew.
How to Wear a Denim Jacket to Work
Outfit #1
Because of how casual a denim jacket can look, by pairing it with dressier pieces a nice middle ground can be achieved. I love a denim jacket over a dress, like I styled here using this red sheath from Felicity & Coco. I finished the outfit with a pair of strappy sandals from Splendid, Burberry handbag and pendant fro Stella & Dot.
Outfit #2
In work situations where you want to war a topper piece with more structure but feel that a blazer is too dressy, try a denim jacket. Here I styled it with a basic pair of pants in olive from J. Crew and printed blouse from Joie. The outfit is finished with cognac sandals from Bp., bag from Tory Burch and drop earrings from Kenneth Jay Lane.
Outfit #3
With this denim jacket, this outfit gets a casual touch while still remaining appropriate for work. I styled the look with a basic knit top from BOSS Hugo Boss and black skirt from L.K. Bennet and finished the outfit with a pair of red low block heel pumps, black and white striped bag from MCM and layered necklace from Karine Sultan.
Outfit #4
How about styling a denim jacket with a jumpsuit? This type of look would be suitable for a more casual workplace. I used this jumpsuit from Maggy London and finished the outfit with block heel mules from Cole Haan, bag from Marc Jacobs and silver earrings from Robert Lee Morris.
Outfit #5
Classic blue denim jeans and a denim jacket doesn’t really work for work, unless you are a ranch hand, of course. For the rest of us it’s just too much denim. Instead, try a denim jacket with white jeans which totally works for casual work environments. In the above look, I styled these crisp white jeans from Hudson with a black top from Vince. The outfit is finished with a pair of persimmon sandals from Kenneth Cole, printed scarf from Johnny Was and black bag from Rebecca Minkoff.
