There is a joke that you can tell a woman is a client of mine because they have a closet full of colorful shoes. This happens quite naturally after clients realize how fun and versatile they are.
This sentiment has definitely seeped into my Facebook Group where many members are embracing a closet of shoes that are more colorful. Most recently, the topic of how useful yellow shoes are has become a pretty consistent theme. I thought this would make a post topic because, it’s true, they are awesome.
Five Ways to Style Yellow Shoes
I have styled five looks using these slingback flats from Everlane. I chose them because they gave me the most versatility when creating different types of outfits. But, don’t worry, there are plenty of yellow shoes at the end of this post.
Next, for a shot of color in an all-neutral look, I love yellow. In an outfit like this, you can add any colored shoes that you want. I styled these flat slingbacks with a navy and white cotton striped sweater, kick-flare cropped jeans from Kut from the Kloth, and navy bag from Coach.
In this work look, I am, again, using these yellow shoes to add some interest to a monochromatic look. This small pop takes a somewhat basic outfit and makes it more stylish and interesting. I styled the look with grey tattersall pants from Banana Republic, black surplice tee from Something Navy, grey cardigan from Halogen, grey bag from Dagne Dover and necklace from Chico’s.
I love yellow with shades of olive. I styled these flats with olive/khaki wide-leg cropped pants and jacket, both from Akris Punto. Under the jacket, I added a soft blue t-shirt from Rag & Bone, and teal handbag from Bottega Veneta.
