After living through an excruciatingly humid summer, I’ve been thrilled with the crisp, cool temperatures. We’re not in full-fledged jacket weather in New York just yet but that is right around the corner. It’s common to savor these days because it will be no time before the bitter winter comes knocking and everyone will be bundled up like Eskimos until the first spring thaw.
In other parts of the country, lightweight coats take people through the entire winter (I envy you) and there is no need for heavy coats. Whether it be for a brief window or for the entire winter, I have put together five looks using lightweight jackets and coats for crisp autumn weather. At the end of the post, you will find more coats and jackets to shop.
LIGHTWEIGHT JACKETS AND COATS OUTFITS
Outfit #1

In this first look, I styled this burgundy quilted field jacket from J. Crew with a pair of olive demi-boot crop pants, and a blush cashmere crewneck sweater from Halogen. I finished the look with an ombré scarf from Chan Luu, blush python loafer flats from Boden, soft rose bag from Cuyana, and threader earrings from J.Jill.
Outfit #2

I created this chic and practical look by styling one of my favorite color combinations, black, camel, and grey. Camel is frequently a color I style with black to give it an elegant appearance. I styled this double-faced, wool cashmere coat from Nordstrom with a pair of frequently flattering wool Piazza Sempione side-zip ankle-length pants and a grey heathered turtleneck from Splendid. I finished the look with camel flats from Tory Burch, handbag from Chloé, and pearl earrings from Kate Spade.
Outfit #3

This parka from Max Mara is pricey but amazing. I know because I own one and it is the single best outerwear purchase I made. While few have the budget to plunk down on a style like this, you can do what I did and purchase one on a site on The Real Real which always has some for sale. You can see my coat here. I paid a fraction of the price and have gotten enough wear from it that even if I did pay full price it would have been worth the price. Athleta also has a style that is somewhat similar.
I styled this Max Mara Parka with a cozy chunky sweater from Everlane and a pair of skinny jeans from AG. I finished the look with a pair of cognac booties from Marc Fisher, and fir colored crossbody from Marc Jacobs.
Outfit #4

This professional outfit is styled with a lightweight jacket from Boden with a printed top from M.M. Lafleur and tailored pants from Lafayette 148. I finished the outfit with block heel pumps in navy from Talbots, a light blue croc-embossed handbag from Brahmin, and a beaded necklace from Banana Republic.
Outfit #5

In this last outfit, I styled this olive field jacket from L.L. Bean with a pair of tan ankle-length jeans from Wit & Wisdom and a v-neck sweater from Treasure & Bond. I finished the look with a pair of waterproof slip-on sneakers from Blondo, a cognac bag from FRAME, and a printed scarf from ALLSAINTS.

Looks 2, 3 and 5 I’m putting into my capsule closet board. I think I’ll wear a variation of one of them today!
Those happen to be my three favorites as well! I am glad you got some inspiration!
I have a pink jacket and burgundy top I’m going to use for a twist on that #1 look- love those!
Here I have all these parts and pieces of a quality wardrobe I can put together and yet I always look kinda unkempt… like it isn’t the clothes but the way I wear them? Not sure what the deal is though I THINK it might be my hair…
Hmm, maybe it is a fit issue? It’s hard to know what is off unless I see it but that could be something to consider.
