I don’t put much stock in face masks. Well, let me rephrase that. I don’t put much stock in face masks you do yourself at home. When you compare the application of a mask at the spa (also known to me as the Mother Ship), they don’t just slather a mask on your face. It’s a process involving steps like steaming, cleansing, and pore opening. Applying a mask at the spa is a multi-step process and one that I am sure none of us follow when we slap one on in our bathrooms.
This makes me the perfect person to review a mask because my bar for them is super low. You are going to have to dazzle me. Honayst had no idea of this when they reached out to and asked me to sample their Skin Glowing and Refining Mud Mask and, despite my lukewarm feelings on home masks, I never turn down a free beauty product.
My jar arrived with tons of literature that actually used the word algorithm (does everything have an algorithm these days?) that actually got me intrigued. At least they backed up their claims, unlike the time I had someone at the beauty counter explain to me that the sunflower oil they used in their product for neck lifting worked because sunflowers always lift to the sun, and because of this, my neck will also lift. Seriously, where do they come up with this stuff? Honayst developed algorithms that can read and understand millions of scientific papers. These algorithms have created and analyzed a knowledge bank of 2.8 million research papers published by scientists in the last 70 years. After thousands of experiments, a discovery led to the birth of Absolute Molecular Efficacy or AME. AME is a supercomputer which can compare scientific discoveries on ingredients and their origins, and discover the most versatile and potent active ingredients for skincare.
With this information, Honayst launched an oil mask, their Skin Glowing and Refining Mud Mask, that they claim will work with your skin’s intrinsic reparative cycle by detoxifying accumulated toxins and then will unleash intense, lasting hydration well into the next morning, boosting the skin’s natural renewal process. Powerful antioxidants will neutralize stress to counter expression lines.
In-house production in small batches ensures pharmaceutical-grade purity that, when coupled with the precise selections and encapsulation process of ingredients, delivers highly predictive results with no unnecessary irritants or additives. Their production processes are non-toxic, sustainable, and built on the principles of green chemistry.
My Review of Honayst Skin Glowing and Refining Mud Mask

Out of the package, the mask has a light scent that is clean and natural smelling and you can tell immediately that nothing extraneous was used to add fragrance. The mask is the color of pea soup and has an oilier texture than most masks I have tried. The jar is 1.7 ounces and given the consistency will last quite a while despite it being on the more petite side.

The suggestion is that you apply this mask to clean skin and massage gently. Following that, you add another layer of the mask and keep it on for 20 minutes for the mask to melt on your face. Next, you are to use a spatula to wipe the mask off which I don’t own (Do people just own face spatulas?) and finally rinse. For combination skin, application two to three times a week is recommended, and for sensitive or dry skin once to twice a week is suggested.
After removing my mask sans-spatula, my skin felt super dewy, my rosacea looked less pink and I found the mask super hydrating without making my skin oilier than it naturally is. But I knew better than to go by how my skin immediately felt after because skin always feels better right after a mask. The real test is what your skin will feel like a day or two later.
Well, as luck would have it, I actually had plans, a rarity in these times, and had to put makeup on. This is when I noticed a significant change in the quality of my skin. Not only did my makeup apply easier, my skin actually felt more youthful. There was an elasticity I could feel and the same hydration that I had felt right after removing the mask.
So despite my meh feelings on masks you apply at home, I have to give Honayst’s Skin Glowing and Refining Mud Mask two thumbs up.
