Is anyone else experiencing event backlog? Between now and July, I will be attending a baby shower, a baby christening, a wedding, and I am actually going on a business trip for the first time in a year. In addition to my suddenly busy social schedule, I have been helping clients with their own looks for their upcoming events. In just about every case with my clients, the request has been for something easy and something floral. We’re in a floral moment with print trends and nothing seems more fitting. To see life blooming again, even if it is in the prints we wear, feels very apropos.
As I have mentioned many times on this blog, a floral print has to be absolutely stunning for me to like it. I don’t normally wear florals and I find cheap floral prints to look pretty down-market. I’m just not a floral person. So given that even I am excited about looking at them, it proves just how depressing the world has been for a year.
HOW TO STYLE FLORAL EVENT DRESSES
If you have been feeling floral prints and your own packed calendar of events coming up, I have put together five floral event dress looks for all types of occasions to give you some ideas. And be sure to shop for more floral dresses at the end of this post.
Outfit #1

The silhouette of this floral event dress from Eliza J is a pretty common shape that has been seen by many retailers at different price points. It’s a wrap style with a high-low hem that often has ruffles, another trend we’re seeing a lot of in stores. I styled this dress with a pair of blush strappy heeled sandals from Marc Fisher, a raffia clutch in midnight from Nordstrom, and kyanite drop earrings from Monica Vinader.
Outfit #2

For a more formal event, I styled this teal floral midi dress from Kay Unger with gunmetal strappy heels from Klub Nico, a teal handbag from Eric Javits, and a teal gemstone necklace from Banana Republic.
Outfit #3

I love this toile-inspired floral dress from Teri Jon which is perfect for those who like floral prints but prefer a bit more structure and tailoring. I styled the dress with navy pumps, a bone pleated clutch from Nanushka, and navy cluster drip earrings from Simone Rocha.
Outfit #4

A client just purchased this gorgeous floral ikat print dress from Sachin & Babi and we are standing by to see how it works out. I’m not sure how we’ll be styling the dress if it does work out, so in the meantime, I am styling it here with Stuart Weitzman block heel sandals in soft blue, a satin pouch clutch in ink from Lafayette 148, and the same Monica Vinader earrings as used in the first look.
Outfit #5

I liked this last dress by Stine Goya for its easy shaping. I styled it with easy block heel sandals in sand, a woven orange clutch from Nordstrom, and bone drop earrings from Kendra Scott.
