I don’t think it is a stretch to say that America has been a little confusing and tricky to navigate lately. There was a meme I saw recently that said the last time we were all united as a country was when the doc Tiger King came out. It feels like daily that we wake up to something that feels tense and overwhelming, no matter where we stand on the current issues. Despite all this, I don’t think what we’re experiencing diminishes that all of us are glad to be Americans and what that affords us. We have the right to disagree, to speak up, to fight for what we believe in, to demand change, and to help determine the direction this nation takes.

We have our nation’s birthday this week and the Olympics right around the corner which seemed timely to do a post on wearing red, white, and blue together in one look. Some people find combining these colors tricky, not because it’s not an easy combination but because even the most prideful don’t want to walk around looking like a human American flag. You can take a look at the travel capsule I created for my client Mrs. Starling— whose wardrobe consists solely of red, blue, cobalt, black, grey, and white— to see an example of red, white, and blue combined beautifully. I have put together five stylish and creative casual red, white, and blue looks to inspire your outfits this patriotic July.

In this first casual look, I styled this navy and white toile dress from Vineyard Vines with a splash of red using these red drop earrings from The MOMA store. I further finished the look with white sandals from Laroudé and a navy watch band from Machete.

I styled this look based on white with red and blue accents with this white dress from Me+Em that I paired with a red necklace from Etsy, and, in place of navy, a cobalt cardigan from Alex Mill. I finished the outfit with metallic slide sandals from M.Gemi.

In this dressy casual outfit, I styled this blue and white printed skirt from Marie Oliver with a lightweight top from Kule. I finished the look with red block heel sandals from Ara and a crystal pendant from Lele Sadoughi.

In this look, I styled these casual red pants from Farm Rio with a blue and white striped poplin shirt from Rag & Bone and finished the look with Rothy’s sneakers and infinity studs from Oradina.

In this last red, white, and blue outfit, I styled these printed shorts from Boden with this super cute lobster sweater from J.Crew Factory. I finished the outfit with cobalt wedge sandals from Gentle Souls.

Incorporating red, white, and blue into your fashion choices is a vibrant way to express a sense of patriotism, individuality, and style. These colors, rich in symbolism, can be mixed and matched to create a variety of looks, from casual everyday outfits to bold, standout ensembles. Whether you’re celebrating a national holiday, attending a themed event, or simply want to add a pop of color to your wardrobe, red, white, and blue offer endless possibilities. Embrace the versatility of these hues and let your fashion choices reflect your unique spirit and creativity.
